Photos by Mary Galbraith

The Missile Park, southeast of the West Gate entrance, is nearing completion. The park will provide a lasting monument to the men and women who have served the Air Force and United States within the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Community, according to project coordinator 2nd Lt. d'Artagnan de Anda.

The ICBM Program Office prepared the missiles almost completely in house. The new display is made up of several rocket motors that comprise two missiles. The Peacekeeper LG-118A weapon system is the taller of the two at approximately 71 feet. The Minuteman III LGM-30G is the smaller at about 60 feet. The park will be officially dedicated at the end of August.

An estimated 40,000 area residents crowded streets, top, to watch Ogden's Pioneer Day Parade. The parade, which has been an annual event since 1934, celebrates the 1847 arrival of Utah pioneers. Maj. Gen. Richard Roellig and his wife Kelly, left, wave to the crowd. The Hill AFB float theme, below, was "Faith in the Future. Pride in the Past." Aboard the float were A1C Tobiah Odem, A1C James Bailey, A1C Cara Lowe, SSgt. Tina Santos, A1C Tanisha Williams and SrA. Chadrick Conley.
