Expo exhibits latest technologies

The Information Technology/Computer Expo will be held toady at the Officers' Club from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There is no fee to attend and pre-registration is not required. Visitors can view and test some of the latest information technology products and services on the market today from over 25 vendors. CE temporarily closes customer service

The 75th Civil Engineering Squadron customer service office will be closed through Friday for remodeling. Emergency calls will be accepted at Ext. 7-1856. For more information, contact MSgt. Barbara Quinn.

Family child care open house Saturday

The Family Child Care Office, Bldg. 564, will host an Open House Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents and providers are welcome. Car seat safety information is one of the featured topics. Refreshments will be served.

New guide book available

A new edition of the Hill AFB Guide has been published and copies are available at the Ogden ALC Public Affairs Office, Bldg. 1102, and the Family Support Center, Bldg. 308N. The guide details information about base activities and units and is designed for newcomers and visitors. It also includes an updated base telephone directory. A separate base telephone directory will be distributed to base offices soon.

Reading tutors are Ogden City school STARS

All Hill AFB and Defense Depot Hill Utah employees, tenants and their family members are invited to help Ogden City school children through the Students and Tutors for the Advancement of Reading Skills (STARS) program. Volunteers help students with reading skills. 368th named best among Air Force recruiters

At the 368th Recruiting Squadron's annual training meeting in Logan last week, they were recognized nationally as the Top Enlisted Programs Recruiting Squadron for all of the Air Force Recruiting Service. For more information on enlistment or becoming a recruiter, call 1-800-423-USAF.

Blood drive moves from community center

Due to the closure of the Thornton Community Center, the blood drives for Nov. 5 and Dec. 3, 17 and 30 will be held at the Enlisted Club, Bldg. 450, from 9 a.m.-noon. The Nov. 19 blood drive will be held at the 419th Medical Squadron, Bldg. 568, from 9 a.m.-noon. For additional information, call Ext. 7-3586.

Thanksgiving baskets available

The True Vine Baptist Church's Community Food Pantry will donate 50 Thanksgiving food baskets and turkeys to low income and needy Davis County families. To be eligible to receive a basket, residents must be county residents, provide a picture ID and copy of two utility bills as proof of residence. Families may be referred by civilian or military organizations and agencies. Recipients may register at the Family Support Center, Bldg. 308N, Ext. 7-4681, or call True Vine Baptist Church Food Pantry at 546-6554. Applications must be submitted by Nov. 10. The church is a member of the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program for Davis County and is located at 197 West 100 South, Kaysville.

Gospel concert performers sought

The African-American Heritage Committee is seeking choirs, groups and soloists for a Feb. 26 Gospel Concert and Heritage Food Tasting at the Base Chapel. Anyone interested in participating may contact Maxine Bromfield at Ext. 7-3664 or 7-2373.

Volunteers needed

The Retiree Activity Office is located in Bldg. 308N. For information on volunteering, call Ext. 7-5735 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. weekdays.

The Thrift Shop needs volunteers. Childcare is paid during volunteer hours. For details, contact Blanche Greene, 825-1026, at the Thrift Shop on Wednesday or Thursday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

They Hill Aerospace Museum is building a new Fighter Airplane Gallery and needs tour guides, security and administrative volunteers. For more information, call Jackie McDonough at Ext. 5-4631.

MPF extends hours

The Military Personnel Flight customer service hours are 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; and 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tuesdays. All offices are closed from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays for training. Urgent requests will still be handled during this hour and members should call Ext. 7-1845 if they need assistance. Questions on the new hours of operation should be directed to the superintendent, SMSgt. Scott Kilbride, Ext. 7-3612.

Linen Exchange sets new hours

The Linen Exchange, Bldg. 356, is now open from 6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. weekdays and closed for lunch between 11-11:30 a.m. For more information, call Ext. 7-3196.

Training Program applications accepted

Applications for classes for the Physicians Assistant Training Program will be accepted through Jan. 20. See AFCAT 36-2223, Chapter 3, Course J30QR42G1-000 for course description, prerequisites and application procedures. Only active duty enlisted Air Force members can apply. The selection board will convene March 27. All interested applicants should report to the Formal Training Office, Bldg. 383, Room 108, to receive initial counseling and application packages. Reserve seeks members

Walk highlights abuse prevention

Your Community Connection of Ogden and Northern Utah present "Footsteps to Light," a candle-lit empowerment walk today in conjunction with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Activities begin at 5:15 p.m. in the YCC Community Room, 2261 Adams Ave. in Ogden. Information on community support agencies, a procession and short program are featured event activities. WSU banquet to focus on diversity

Weber State University will sponsor a Conference on Diversity Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Shepherd Union Building. The free event is designed to inform educators across the state on diversity issues in higher education. For details or to register, call 626-6196.

Bison roundup set

The public is invited to attend a modern, western roundup Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. when helicopters, horseback riders and four-wheel drive units move the Antelope Island bison herd from the southern tip of the island to the handling facility located at the park's northern end. The annual event is an opportunity for the public to see 450 Utah cowboys and cowgirls roundup one of the nation's largest and oldest public herds. Holiday bazaar planned

Holidays crafts and baked goods will be featured at St. Paul Lutheran Church's annual Holiday Bazaar. The event is scheduled from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 5, and 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 6, at the church, 3329 Harrison Blvd., Ogden. A hot meal is also available through the event's Gingerbread Kitchen. Essay contest open to students

The Utah State Office of Education and the University of Utah are sponsoring the 13th annual essay contest. The year's theme is "Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Freedom for the New Millennium." Six winners will each be awarded $25. Two overall winners in the junior and senior high divisions will be awarded an additional $100 each. Veterans' officers available

A Veterans of Foreign Wars Department Service Officer will be at the Clearfield West Employment Center, 1579 South State Street, Nov. 5 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

A Department Service Officer for the Disabled American Veterans, will be available at the Ogden Workforce Office, 480 27th Street, Nov. 12 from 8:30-10 a.m. and at the Clearfield Workforce Office, 1579 South State Street, from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Veterans should bring DD Form 214, marriage and divorce papers, birth/adoption/death certificates and children's social security numbers.
